This is an updated version of an article I wrote a few years ago for some of my now-defunct blogs.

A collage of 9 partial images of vintage computers in the shape of jigsaw pieces. Commodore 64, Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Oric-1, Jupiter ACE, BBC Master, Dragon 32, Commodore Amiga 500, Atari 800, Sinclair ZX81.
Collage created by the author using his own photos, except for Atari 800 (Photo by Evan-Amos, Public Domain) and Jupiter ACE (Photo by Dutra de Lacerda, alias Factor-H, Public Domain)

This article summarises 17 computers I’ve previously written about in greater detail. These are machines I used, owned, or found interesting in the 1980s.

You’ll find a blend of technical details, personal opinions, and links to longer articles on each model.

The list is organised by approximate release date. Since I live in England, some of these computers might be less familiar to those in other regions.

I’d love to hear about your favourites in the comments and any other models you think I should have included.

Thanks for reading
Alan
