Are things roughly back to where they were in June?
My gut tells me I’m earning less than I did in the past. But have the spectacular August and September numbers affected my judgement?
Let’s take a look.
My October earnings and views are similar to June’s
My October ‘cents per view’ is similar to pre-August levels
My average earnings per story is now higher than before August
What does it all mean?
Until now, I thought my current earnings were at an all-time low. However, my statistics tell a different story.
There is more variation between my best and worst numbers than in the past; perhaps I have focused too much on the worst ones lately.
On average, things are similar or better compared to earlier in the year.
I’m not saying my current numbers are good.
For the hours I’ve put in, they are terrible!
- Several hours a day on Medium for a month earns me less than my son gets from a single shift at McDonald’s.
This is why I planned to spend more time elsewhere after July. However, Medium’s August changes made me postpone those plans.
It’s hard to give up on the hope of another month like August. But perhaps it’s time to resurrect July’s plan and look elsewhere for income.
Medium is addictive, but my bank account does not understand.
